Nepal is a land locked least developing country
and the nearest entry/exit port is Kolkota in
India, which is approximately 1400 Kilometers
by road from Capital Kathmandu, Nepal.
Because of economic situation in India, all third
country shipments to Nepal are subjected to strict
scrutiny by the Indian Customs at Calcutta port.
A slight mistake on the Bill of Lading or Packing
list or import/export documents may result in
indefinite in clearing the shipment, but at the
same time increase the volume of paper work at
extra heavy expenses. It is imperative the following
documents are sent to us under registered airmail
or through courier's service minimum 15 days to
the arrival of both the sea and air shipments.
1. Original bill of lading/Airways
bill.
2. Packing list (Please be specific for electronic
items).
3. Insurance certificate.
4. Contact address of the shipper in Nepal.
We have often found that the
packing lists furnished to us are vague and do not
give full description of items. Such as medium size
cartoon, Small cartoon, large cartoon are not acceptable.
Please specify in your packing list when you pack
electrical and electronic items such as VCR, TV,
DVD, Music System, Toaster, Stereo, Computers, Refrigerator,
Washing machine, Vacuum cleaner, hot plate etc.
Shipment of arms and ammunition are restricted
without prior approval from the His Majesty Government
of Nepal.
Though Nepal being a land locked country, it
is linked by different regional and International
airlines to different neighboring cities. Trivubhan
International Airport (Kathmandu) have well spaced
warehouse but we do not have any control over
the shipments as long as the shippers does not
give us the official import documents. It takes
normally seven to ten days for a shipper to process
the import documents. Shipper presence in Nepal
is necessary to process import documents with
HMG concerned department.
Also kindly note that while preparing surface
shipment for Nepal, please ensure the lift van
is sturdy and properly lined with waterproof.
All shipments must be adequately waterproofed
to avoid the damage due to lack of warehouse facilities.
Please do not show our name, even by mistake,
on the consignee column you may indicate our name
under 'notify column; under consignee column,
please mention the name of the shipper and his/her
organization. If the organization could not be
identified then the shipper's name, care of P.O.Box
12968, Kathmandu, Nepal, but not C/o Carry Care
International. When our name and address appear
under consignee column, the customs authorities
immediately jump to the conclusion that Carry
Care International is the owner as well as receiver
of the shipment and the content are for our use.
Now this will complicate and delay the smooth
clearance of the shipments and will result in
extra heavy expenses. Therefore, we would request
you all not to consign shipment in our name.
If you follow the above guide lines while preparing
shipment to Nepal, clearance becomes smoother
and efficient for us and thus we gain a happy
customer.
